New in embedded control, the C6 SMART iPC

KEB America announces the debut of its newest embedded control product. The C6 SMART iPC uses an ARM CORTEX™-A9 CPU for advanced real-time control and fast switching and detecting of output and input signals in a compact space – just 47 mm wide and DIN rail mounted.

The C6 SMART features a DVI port for integrated visualization, 8 GB of onboard memory for applications, an EtherCAT master that can easily host expandable I/O modules, and it ships with all the software you need already installed – Windows Embedded Compact 7, as well as the tools necessary for control, visualization, and maintenance. A micro-UPS with 512KB of persistent/retain memory helps to protect against power outages.

Flexibility in integration

When it comes to integrating embedded control into your system the C6 SMART has an impressive list of interfaces available:

• Ethernet 10/100/1000 Mbit/s
• EtherCAT master
• E-Bus LVDS port
• DVI-D interface
• 2x USB 2.0
• Multi-color LED diagnostic interface

By adding an optional extender and coupler modules tree or branch topologies can be created.

Updating the C6 SMART is fast and easy. Simply plug in a USB stick with the new program and power up the SMART – the application will install itself.

Environmental considerations and applications

The C6 SMART iPC has an IP20 protection rating and can operation in a temperature range of 0 … 50 °C. Applications that can benefit from the C6 automation system of controls include cranes, wind turbines, theatre automation, and conveyors.
